Imagination is more important than Knowledge

"Imagination is more important than Knowledge"

I centainly agreed with this phrase very much. There're so many times that imagination helps me throught problems that I coundn't find the answers from the books. I sometime judged something with my knowledge, then I realized that was not true for what I think.

Nowaday, I became a teacher, I found that so many children have their own imagination.

For example; one of my student was curious about the leaf fall off of the tree and come to me with her question

Student : why the leaf has to fall from the tree?

Me : because of the tree is an organism. Tree is like a human, they have to grow and died

at the end.

Student : I think the leaf make the ground look messy after they fall from the tree.

Why don't we think of planting any plant that don't get rid of the leaf.

Me : what a good idea you have! in real life we can not do that but we can think of

the tool that can help us sweep and clean the leaf off the grond faster.

In the future, we might have a sweeping tool from this little girl immagination. who knows.

My first Blog

I've heard about Blog for several years already but I never tried before even my friends told me that they enjoy it very much. Maybe I am a different one. I am not so crazy about the new trends unless it's really necessary in my life. Some of my friends were totally lost their minds when the new faces of the pop stars on the screen, the new digital products occurred in the market or the new fashions popped out, but I think I can always keep a cool head. In any way, I have to use the Blog from now on, and this is my first try, I hope I can find fun from it and enjoy it in the near future.

Room 415, Bldg 46
Office Hours: By appointment
http://eflwriting4life.wordpress.com

Course Description

This course focuses primarily on the development of students’ skills in writing in English. Students will be exposed to a myriad of writing practices, ranging from expressive to academic writing, as well as reading texts of their interests and those pertaining to translation research (TR). Major course activities include reading, class discussion, writing essays, peer review of students’ writing, and conferencing with the instructor.

Objectives

In this course, students will:

  1. Learn and practice writing skills that will help them to write;
  2. Read texts, and write to express their thoughts and to comment on the texts they have read; and
  3. Write multiple drafts of essays and reports based on their reading and class discussions, and an essay summarizing and critiquing a translation research.

Evaluation

The assessment of this course is principally based on students’ on-line evaluation-free journals at http://815406.blogspot.com/, reading materials from http://eflwriting4life.wordpress.com and discussions based on them, essay writing and submission, and class participation. Students will write at least 6 class essays for the entire semester, and are allowed to choose their own topics, with two required essays: one transactional-academic (TA) essay (Essay 5), and one expressive-transactional (ET) essay (Essay 6). Overall, class essays include:

  1. Weekly on-line journal entries, at least one double-spaced A4 page in length. All journal entries must be submitted 3 days prior to each class.
  2. Two expressive-transactional (ET) essays (Essays 1 and 2): 1-2 double-spaced pages per essay.
  3. Three transactional-academic (TA) essays (Essays 3 to 5): 2-3 double-spaced pages per essay. For Essay 5, students are required to read and discuss one translation research (TR) paper of their choice and write a summary and critique of the research. The essay must be accompanied by an abstract of the research being discussed.
  4. One reflection (ET) essay (Essay 6) submitted with the portfolio: 1-2 double-spaced pages. This essay is a reflection on the author’s experience with writing in this class, a list of his/her writing problems and solutions, and comments and suggestions for further class structure and activities. No multiple drafts required.

The in-class writing activity allows each student to spend 3 weeks on one essay. It is suggested, however, that students revise and write further drafts and submit them after they receive feedback from the instructor and/or peers thereafter. Hard copies are required for all primary drafts, while final drafts may be submitted electronically. Students are also required to make multiple hard copies for their classmates for peer review. During the last week of class, each student will submit his/her portfolio—a collection of written works he/she has completed during the semester, which includes both first and final drafts of: their on-line journals, in-class essays, and the reflection paper. There is no midterm or final examination. Evaluation is divided into:

Attendance and participation 30%
On-line journal entries and essay submission and revision 30%
Translation research summary and critique 10%
Portfolio 30%
Total 100%

make power of the mind

make the power of mind
For the last my journal in the blog. I would like to talk to all friends that Commitment makes life more valuable. It is natural that this commitment can be faded away, but do not leave it empty because the high commitment can freshen your life. It can also drive your life to fight further. Whenever you know that your energy of life is going to run out, focus on your goal as well as increase your mind power by learning from the experiences of other successful people that how can they do? or by finding some good books giving a great advice to strengthen your weak life. These can light up your life to revive your commitment and create your confidence and let you think that everything is possible to achieve as long as your commitment never give up.
Our life time is passing. Definitely, we all want to gain something new in every new day we wake up. Do not forget that everything you want can be achieved by your own action. Do not waste the time even a single second without having something worth to your life. Do not get this semester passed without useful as the last time, for the next semester try doing something good for yourself, at least one thing in order to make your life happier and longer. See you again.
Pramaha.

the value of time

My friends
Today is the last day of preparing for our examination which will be on tomorrow evening. I know some of friends are very serious about it. And some friends are doing term paper with a strong mind. I believe everyone can finish them on a limited time. For me, now I know the time is valuable for me and some of you. Do not worry and try to do it step by step then you will reach the goal, This situation makes me returning to think of the Buddha’s word, once he said “ do not postpones what you can do today until tomorrow” I think it is true. When we have times we did not do it until we have a short time. This is the nature of human.

Thank you

"Thank you" is seem like a normal word but actually it's abnormal word...I just kidding (ei ei)
I would like to tell that though the word 'thank you' is a normal word, it has some meaning in itself. This word give a good thing to both speaker and listener. Could you guess what is that good thing? The answer is feeling of both of them. people who say thank you (from inner) because of they get a good thing and have a good feeling. People who receive that word, thank you, also feel good because the thing they do can make other happy.
If you receive something good from someone, please don't forget to say 'thank you' to them. It's seem not neccesary but you do not loose anything, right. Please say thank you not only for a person who make you feel good but for every good thing you get. Why? Because when you say thank you,or at least feel thank you, to anything, you will have more energy to do, to work and you will better look anything in positive way. " Thank you"

the beauty

The beauty
I think most of people know that everything in this world can change all time even our body. Everyone love beauty but it stay with us no longer when we get aging the beauty is disappeared. This is the natural rule. What I want to say there are two kinds of beauty: beauty of body and beauty of mind.
Are you sure that you are not beautiful? Once interviewed, most of all the beautiful women felt that they were not beautiful enough. They were not satisfied with their looks. This is a result of comparing oneself to other people like singers and supermodels. The advertisement plays a crucial role in activating people to think that there are many flaws on their body (this encourages them to pay money for the products at the aim of making them look beautiful). In this case, the best to help you is not the cosmetics or surgical operation, but self-contentment and gloating over whatever you have.
No matter whether you look good or bad, the truth you have to keep in mind is that the beauty of the body can please other people for a while. Finally, it inevitably changes even though you try hard to delay and postpone the change. Nobody can stop the conditioned things unchanging. Unlike the body, the beauty at the heart is more permanent. The body continues changing and declining. The mind is able to be beautifully regenerated and grown up every day. Pramaha

Going to the temple

Dhamma form loung pi
I believe maturity of people use to go to the temple. But my question is before you go to the temple what do you think of your purpose? , what do you would you like to get when you go the temple?. Many answers are given such as I want to get some money, I want to be lucky, or I want to get a success. The purposes of going to the temple are different in many ways. It cannot be denied that you want nothing. I have seen many people going to temple asking for the Buddha’s blessing to help them of making their whish completely. It is right, besides going to temple for asking the Buddha’s blessing, another purpose is to practice Dhamma and to make a merit. If there is Dhamma in your heart there will be no need for jealousy and spit. Then your heart become cooler than usual and you will be peace.
Pramaha.

Never give up

Never give up.
I think now. Some of my classmates work so hard because many term papers must be finished before the final exam starts as well as myself. Many students complains and feel tired to do homework in such a rush hour. It is not difficult to do it if we pay attention to do that. I think it is not hard work, you have of a plenty of everything, time, brain and organs when we compare to people who are cripple, you have more perfection than them and you are able to live happily as usual as other normal people. Maybe you can have more happiness than them. This is because the happiness is from mental circumstance. Some crippled people are not only the leader of family, but also have more happiness than other people around.
I read a story of Mr. Kumpol Thongboonum, he has been crippled for 30 years, but he always expresses facially smile. He became a good example for many other people who have the same problems like him. He can do because “My mind resigned from the cripple” said Kumpol. He is another person who thanks for the cripple since it brings him about knowing himself so deeply that his mind is beyond the suffering.
You just never give up, it is able to lead you overcome the recent physical suffering. In additions, the rest of other normal organs can also be used and exercised as best as they can in the way that you’d never known before. If they are continuously trained and exercised, they can work for the deformed part of body. Some handless artists can draw a beautiful picture by using their mouth and feet.
So one way to reach a goal is to be industrious and try to do it best.
Pramaha.

Paraplegia and Monoplegia

To all my classmates

Even if you cannot walk and move as usual, remember that your mind can think as broad as it can. Do not let the bodily limitation prisons your thinking. True freedom is in mind, not in body. Only you, nobody can limit and prison your thinking.
It can be said that you are luckier than the prisoners in jail. You can move and go wherever you want even it needs people and technology to take you go.
Happiness and painfulness is in your mind. When the mind is attached to the wonderful past, the reality in present causes you discomfort. The past cannot return, let it go and try to live in present moment by means of accepting it and using the rest of the body as best as it can.
If you continue blaming yourself, “Why is it me?” this means that you are doubling your suffering. The more you blame, the more you are pained. Is it better to look at another side of the coin? “Why can’t it be me?” This can occur to everyone, not only you. There are millions of people who suffer like you. Your fortune is not worse than other people’s. Avoid thinking that it is completely misfortunate; good luck may be hidden inside or behind the bad luck.
Pramaha.

body and mind

Dhamma from Loung pi
Our life is divided in two parts, one is the body and one is the mind. The body is what we can touch but the mind is invisible and untouchable. The mind is very important because it is a energy in a body. Before we speak or before we do anything. All are from the mind. As long as the body and the mind are together, we still alive. It is lucky for us to have a chance to learn the true of life. When we have known the importance of this. Please think of yourself and love yourself more than usual as well as your mind. The mind is very important because it is delicate and easy to be broken. Anytime when you face to problem such as broken heart or you lost someone that you love and something that you like your mind will go badly then your action go badly. So please take care of your mind by studying Dhamma, and training meditation anytime you are free.
Pramaha.

Be happy

I don't know how to say...I would like to thank you all of you. This time, I have manything to think about and it's not the reason to post the journal entry on this blog late (^0^).
In each day, we have a lot of things to do and make decision. Sometime the outcome of the thing we selected is good. Sometime the result is not quite good. But you know, In every decision we made plus the outcome, it always give something back because,at least, we have learnt. In some days, we may feel boring because we have to do something again and again but it's never the same. We may meet some situations that we do not expect but it's not often bad.
Sometime, there are sometings make our feeling come down, right? I would like to tell you that Please try to think in a positive way, you will actually feel good.
"Be happy with all things "

one day, at the afternoon

I am outside (please imagin). I waiting for a bus no.203 to go to KMUNB then I decide to write something to post on web blog. Today, I have a lot of feeling even good or bad but it is natural story for human being, right? I have an experience to share to you. it's quite close to all of us and may like a joke also. Now, it's quite long time in waiting for the bus. Have you ever think like me that when I waiting for the bus (specific bus no. such as bus no.203), it never come as we want. Sometime, when we do not waiting for that bus, It come and pass over and over. It seem very strange and hard to understand. At first, The bus not come yet, I feel quite bad because I would like to go to class on time not just in time (it look good...ei ei). How can I do...make the pressure to myself...No, No. The bus that not come yet is a external situation which I cannot control therefore I continue wait for the bus for 10 minutes (the time already pass nearby one hours). And then the appropriate way for this time is taxi. Hey, Taxi! ...go to KMUNB, please. See you around bye ^0^
