Dear my friends.

My thinking about the quantitative reseach is it's reseach that have the data. There are search for many information. The main is propuse amount of detail.

The different of quantitative reseach and qualitative reseach is the qualitative reseach, the main is propuse to seach the quality reseach but the quantitative reseach is intend about amout of data.

The different between quantitative research and qualitative research are how to collect information and the research result. Quanlittive research is collect information by use questionair or short interview with many people. The research result is statistic that concluded from questionair by SPSS program.

I think, the most researcher do quantitative research because it is easy to collect data from the cross section by questionair. From my experience that I have ever do the reseach, it hard to make clear questionair for collect data. The result is useful or not upto the questionair, if the questionair is not clear the result may be not true.

So, it hard to do one research whichever quantitative or qualitative research.

C'sion and C'rence

Dear...Super Dr.Karn, P Mum, Khun Abdul, Yee, Pieaw, Tom, Nid, Nui, M, Jib, Eiang,Mr. Ben and Chote monkhood

I swear that there is the most difficult paper have ever read.
I tried as hard as I did. I, however, confuse in difference between cohesion and coherence. Except P Mum, who could understand only,
others who told that could understand that I disagree because perhaps
they don't deeply get idea. I caught the main idea in my understanding
in cohesion focusing on topics. The words "At the beginning of every
sentence, locate your reader in familiar territory; at the beginning
of a series of sentences, create for your reader a reasonably consistent
point of view, a consistent topic string."(p.53) the most important
sentence.In additionally, I have no idea about coherence I&II.
I am waiting for the lecturer explaination in class.

Moreover, benefit of the cohesion is helpful in given subjects and topics.
Because of the method is divided in two types: fixed & variable.
Anyway, I still a little bid as "hot fuzz"

QTR

Quantitative research is a method of who want to summarize in amount
and number. It's maybe used statistic to conclude result.
Thus, I never have been done it before and I don't have it in my hand now.
In addition, It is very difficult to find it. However, I will try as hard as I can before Friday. Please forgive me, I really hang out in mood.
I read others opinions about QTR. There isn't made any different.
I agreed with all. Oh! I forget that I already have had one now.
I'll read it now!........(3 hours later)..........Hummn! I,now, understand
that it is same as QLTR but different in formulation. Both have to
analyzed before express in conclusion. Anyway, just read only shouldn't
be useful. After finish making 4.1, there will be blood-as I under stood.

Cohesion and Coherence

Dear all,

As for this article, I realize everything that the author informs, it is very useful for writing. The auther talk about the importance of cohesion and coherence, that something I never know before. I like these.

The auther can exemplify the sentences by clear comparison. For example, between the passive sentence and active sentence, he explains both sentences it differently emphasizes.

Moreover, the auther guide about managing subjects and topics for flow (p.54). He talks about how to write for an audience able to understand and two principle (p.56).I like these suggestions.
The authors give an advice that “Organize your sentences so that you open them with old information in the topic position, usually with a character as a subject. Then follow the subject with a verb that expresses a crucial action. Move complex information to the end of your sentence (p.65).”

As for coherence, the authors indicate that “coherence is abstract (p.81).” Furthermore, they offer some principles that will help the writer diagnose such kind of writing and they suggest how we can revise it.

Quantitative Research

Dear all,

In my opinion, quantitative research is the study about the data like qualitative research but the result of qualitative research is the data that was proved by the researcher's hypothesis. And then, the result of quantitative research always has the number that was proved by the process of statistics such as estimation, random variable, observation, experiment etc..

I have ever learned about the process of statistics since I studied in Bachelor's Degree. It always uses with SPSS program which calculates the result become the number or the percentages.

However, I am not sure about the real meaning of the quantitative research but I try to learn about this method in order to help me understanding with the research.

Quantitative Research

For me, it is obviously that quantitative research is the research which its result is number. The result may be from other people by interview, questionair, etc. It sounds like a poll, doesn't it?

In fact, I am not sure what quantitative reserach really is because sometimes I see the reseach which its result is number is not called as quantitative research.

Finally, I have some questions why do translation students have to do a research? I have my own answer and I would love to know yours too. Also I would love to know what differences between making quantitative research and poll in case they are different?

Quantitative research

I think a quantitative research is a research to summarize a result with number. Using is a statistics for measurement. The result is a data about number because the number is fixed.

I think most research is the quantitative research because summary use statistics and it's easier than a qualitative research.

The difference between the quantitative and the qualitative research is measurement form statistics of the quantitative research and only theory of the qualitative research. But both is important.
