Display: Should be larger because it will be clear, but the downside is that there are a lot of weights. If you prefer a light notebook so you have to choose smaller screen. Now, most people would be at 13 0r 14.1 inches.

Graphic card (GPU): If you want to play the game, that hard resolution you have to choose separate GPU, but if you don't play more game that no need.

Battery: Currently, the most notebook battery should be lithium because it's the most longest time.

Memery (RAM): Should install more than 2GB for run windows 7. You can buy more later.

Harddisk (HDD): At least 250 GB up because most programs are relatively large. And you can keep more songs, movies and pictures.

Communication channel (Port): it's used for connecting external devices example printers, scanner, cameras, projector and etc. The new version of the popular port and a standard is USB 2.0 now, it had anew port is HDMI that you can connecting with you large TV and monitor to get a clearly hi-definition movies.
