Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish

Steve Jobs, Apple CEO gave Commencement Speech at Stanford University in June 2005. He talked about three storied in his life. His first story is about connecting the dots. He concluded that in our life we have to connect the dots looking forward at present, but it was very clear looking backward later. Again and again we cannot connect the dots looking forward so we believe our connected dots will lead us to the road to follow our heart confidently and then we might make the difference. In his case, if he never dropted out and dropted in on the calligraphy class, he could not creat beautiful typography in personal computer.
His second story is about love and loss. He said he was lucky to find the thing he loved to do. He and his friend started Apple in his father's garage when he was 20 years old. Later Apple became big suceeful company and he was fire when he turned to 30 years old. After that he kept to follow his love so he settled new company, NeXT. And then Apple bought Next so he has come to Apple. Now he is Apple CEO. He said that the only way to do the great work was to love what we did.
In his third story, he talked about death. "If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right.", this quote impressed him so every morning he asked himself "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?". Besides, if the answers are always " I don't know what to do". He has to do some changes. He said that our time is limted so we have to listen our inner voices.
Apple CEO's words made me realize that I have to find the things I love to do. If not, I have to keep looking, but don't settle.
He ended his speech on powerful words in The Whole Earth Catalogue.
"Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish."
