Peaceful Ampawa Floating Market on weekday
Since P’ Ngoh wrote her blog about her unpleasant time at a restaurant when she was in Ampawa, so I thought this week I will write something about this floating market too—but in a good way--as I have just visited there last week. But my case was different from P’Ngoh’s because the restaurant that I dined was nice and it paid off the whole raining day that nearly spoiled my trip while I was there. This restaurant is called Jao Sum Laan (เจ้าสำราญ) which is located by Maeklong river and close to the market. The food there was tasty and not pricey. If anyone ever been there, you will find it easily. This is the place to eat I would recommend you guys to go to.
This is the fourth time now that I have visited this popular floating market. I have to say that I enjoy every time I am there. I am sure that some of you here may have been to this cool market, and you can see how crazy it is on the weekend. This market is getting popular everyday, as I have seen more shops, bars, restaurants and home-stays growing up along the canal. My favorite part always goes for seafood, especially barbecued prawns and muscles with spicy sauce….Mmm I am mouth watering now… hehe. I am a seafood lover, so the very first thing I do when my feet touch there is to look for seafood. It’s quite nice to sit by the canal, enjoy nice freshly cooked food that you can order from vendors on the boats, then make yourself feel with the traditional life style of Ampawa. This part is probably the most enjoying time of mine when I am there.
You might find Ampawa different on the weekday. It's very very quiet, not crowed and crazy like what you see on the weekend. If you would like to get away from craziness in Bangkok, then Ampawa is your destinatination. You can spend time reading or studying peacfully, and relax yourself in the lovely environment. Other than floating market, you can also visit King Rama II Memorial Park which is another nice attraction nearby located very close to the market.

Ampawa is just 1.30 hour away from Bangkok by mini bus. So don’t worry if you don’t have your own car, as there are mini bus services around victory monument departing for Ampawa every hour. Very easy as it sounds! So if anyone has no idea where to get away from BKK yet, I absolutely recommend Ampawa Floating Market, a small paradise right at your fingertips. Enjoy!
I couldn’t agree more with you that Ampawa is a paradise on earth because people living their lives simply and traditionally. In other words, most of them make a living from selling fruits; not wake up to go for work and bog down with bad traffic. I was very impressed when I stayed one night at RalaxSmile Resort in Ampawa two years ago. Its owner is both the general manager of the resort and farmer. She is so cute and kind. The resort is not quite big but its atmosphere is worth for taking a rest since the resort is designed to have a small canal and beautiful garden. What’s more, its rooms are beautifully decorated. Although its location is quite far from Ampawa floating market, the resort provided me a pick-up truck when I liked to go the floating market or nearby temples. Ampawa is one of my memorable trips like you as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for you comment, and I think most people visiting there would fall in love with this paradise on earth like us. Ampawa just never fell us down :-)
