Caffeine

Today, I read my book about soft drink. I really like tea, soft drinks and cocoa. I think when you think caffeine you think of coffee. But caffeine found soft drinks (Pepsi, Coke, etc), tea, and chocolate. The coffee bean contains about 1 percent caffeine. Caffeine is bitter substance. Caffeine is a stimulant; some people avoid drinking coffee at night because that’s time when they want to relax. But other people seem quite able to sleep despite the caffeine in their coffee. The caffeine in coffee acts differently at different times, and it has a different effect on different people.-,-"

Mexican food @ La monita

Hello everyone have you ever try Mexican food? Today I went to Ploenchit and I went to Mexican restaurant, La monita. This is my second time here. (La monita means a little monkey) It served authentic Mexican foods. The interior design is base on Mexican style (very colorful) with Latin songs, I like it very much. Today I ordered 4 menus there were

1. Monkey wings, hot wings coated with spicy monita sauce. This one is a little bit spicy but it was ok. 6 pieces for 100 baht.

2. Quesadilla a grilled 10 inch flour tortilla with melted cheese, whole beans, fresh salsa, house salsa, guacamole and sour cream with shrimp. (normally they have shrimp, steak and fish but today I ordered shrimp ^^) This one I love it, it is super delicious. If you want to try Mexican food, don’t miss this menu. This menu is 270 baht.

3. Ensalada pollo it’s a chicken salad with their special salsa salad dressing. This one I ordered as an appetizer but they served us as a last plate hahaha. It was a big portion, 220 baht.

4. Queso Fundido it is a melted seasoned cheese dip with chorizo, steak or shrimp (I ordered shrimp) served with 4 corn or flour tortillas. This one is a pretty good one I like it too. This plate is heaven to people who love cheese (including me too ^^).

There are many more interesting menus in this restaurant if you want to try Mexican food this restaurant is a good place to go.

Ahhh…don’t miss Tacos if you go there. It is a very delicious plate too.

The Black Swan

The Black Swan is a movie that make people addict to a character of Nina (Natalie Portman). For me it’s very impressive because Natalie can make Nina look outstanding although Nina’s real character has nothing special. She can show a different of feel between black and white swan in Nina’s mind even if there is no dialogue in that scene.

The film follows Portman's character Nina from the point where she's finally granted the lead role in Swan Lake. She dance perfectly in  white swan part, but her inability to let go of her emotions obstruct her black swan part. Right then Lily shows up, the complete opposite of Nina's character. She reveals a hidden side of Nina's personality, to understand better in black swan. At the same time, Lily turns into her biggest rival for the lead role.

You won't be having a lot of fun at Black Swan but like Nina has said “it’s perfect”

The Borrower Arrietty from Ghibli Studio

Arrietty the borrower is the latest movie of Ghibli Studio, directed by Studio Ghibli animator Hiromasa Yonebayashi and based on the fantasy novel, The Borrower by Mary Norton. Now showing on Apex! wow glad to hear that!

It's a story about Arrietty, a little people, and her family who call themselves the borrower because they have to borrow things (or steal) from human household. They lives happily and peacefully under the floorboard until one day when a boy name Sho arrives at his aunt’s house and see Arrietty and that is  the beginning.

I don’t know how to say but this movie is so beautiful . Every details even the little people’s things, tree, house, river, song  and atmosphere all in Ghibli’s standard. Although I thought it’s quite a short story and I want to know more about Arrietty and Sho because they don’t have much time to improve their relationship.

Anyway I love Ghibli and It’s great to see that Ghibli has future beyond Hayao Miyazaki, the Ghibli founder, as long as they don't let his son direct movies like they did with Tales from Earthsea -*-

Chapter 1 … The Chocolate’s History

Do you love Chocolate???

I am a person who loves Chocolate. Someday when I ate Milk Chocolate, I want to know about the History of Chocolate. So I searched and translated this information from Thai to English then I want to share it to everyone. I will divide into three chapters because it has more information and this blog is chapter one. Let’s know more about Chocolate!!!

Chocolate is a produce food from the seed of the tropical cacao tree. It is an ingredient of many desserts such as ice-cream, candy, cookie, cake and pie. It is looked upon as a love sweet of people around the world.

Chocolate is made by fermented, roasted and crushed the cocoa seed which come from the tropical cacao tree – origin in Central America and Mexico. The cacao tree was discovered by Indians and Aztecs. And now it is broadly grown around the tropical area. The cocoa seed has more acerbity. It was known “chocolate” or “cocoa”.

Moreover, the cocoa seed can make for beverage as hot chocolate. This beverage was made by Aztecs, Indians and Europeans.

The History of Chocolate

Chocolate was discovered for two thousand years ago, after the period of Queen Cleopatra of Egypt. It is produced from the seeds of the cacao tree in the tropical forest of America. Chocolate was form into Theobroma cacao group – it means the food of the gods.

The first people known to discover chocolate were ancient civilization in Mexico and Central America - Mayans and Aztecs. They were crushed and mixed the cacao seeds with many ingredients for made the beverages which have bitter taste. In addition to use for made the foods, chocolate was used for the way of life in religion and social.

The Mayans - 250-900 A.D. – was the first people who have the archaeological evidence that they were discovered the secret of the cacao. They bring it from rainforest and grown at their backyard. After that, the seeds were used to fermented, roasted and crushed. If they wanted to make the beverage, they mixed with water, chili pepper and maize flour. The chocolate beverage had a good taste and full of the foamy.

In 1400 A.D., the Aztec empire took over a majority part of Mesoamerica. The Aztec people traded the cacao seeds with Mayans and other. They often needed the conquered people pay for their tribute by used the cacao seeds—a form of Aztec money. The Aztecs loved to drink chocolate like first period Mayans and mixed it with spices. But the Mesoamericans was not mixed with sugar because the sugar cane was not grown.

There are story about the classic Mayans liked to drink chocolate in special occasion while the price or princess drank it all occasions. For the Aztecs, the grand duke, monk, high soldier and merchant can drank this holy beverage only. The chocolate was an important part of royal ceremony and religion because they used the cacao seeds to worship the god and drank in important ceremony.

When 4,000 years ago, the Aztecs believed that “the cocoa seed is a food which the gods given for clear the way to the heaven”. That is a cause they used the cocoa seeds to make the beverage. Then, Hernando Cortez, the Spanish explorer, found the Aztecs. He lived with them and drank chocolate water together. He bring the cocoa seeds back to his country for make the beverage and flavor to sweet, that was very popular in Spain. At least, Conrad J. Cause of Cough

The mechanism of coughing happens when somethings stimulate the coughing receiver of some of the skin irritant in your upper and lower respiratory tract that starts from conch, eardrum membrane, air cavity inside the nose (sinuses), nasopharyngeal, and throat down through larynx, bronchia, lung, diaphragm, and pleura. Besides the coughing receiver is found in pericardium and stomach as well. The stimulation goes through the couple of nerves number 10 to cough center in your brain that controls the muscle and organ that involve breathing such as diaphragm muscle, rib muscle, abdominal muscle, larynx and bronchia. That is the cause of bronichits which made the bronchia narrower and you cough finally.

Why am I interesting in the cause of cough? Because I have been coughing for almost 6 months. I have seen many doctors in many hospitals; modern, traditional, Thai, or Chinese medicine but ineffective. Anyway I still see the doctor by the appointment at Siriraj Hospital, but on that day my doctor had a meeting somewhere so I have to put off my appointment. Fortunately a nurse suggest me to see the doctor in medicine division named Doctor Suree Sompradeekul. It is very wonderful that I get better and stop coughing in two weeks. Doctor Suree told me that the causes of my coughing are Asthna and Allergy. Thanks to the nurse and Doctor Suree. So I'd like to suggest her to anyone who has the problem about coughing as I knew that it is very suffering and boring.

“Response to Lalita on tactic for high scores of TOEFL’s speaking section you never know!!!”

Hi, P’ Bow! Your text is so interesting for me. In my opinion, TOEFL is a test of English as a Foreign Language that I believe many people are looking for chances to join the test and try to gain high scores for studying in US universities, and someone may be preparing oneself for this test with various ways. And I think this is a good way for achieving high scores.

As I have read Xie Jinzheng, a teacher at a test preparation institute designed patterns for TOEFL’s speaking test in order that his students can remember and recite those patterns in response to any question, and examples of patterns contained in the text. In a part of the examples on the text, “If a question on “place” asks about their favourite park. Xie suggests the response: “You know, there is a river in the park. After dinner, I want to walk along the bank, and the breath of fresh air can really refresh my mind.” I think it is a created way that helps Chinese students use imagining more than only memorizing for taking the test, and their scores rise on speaking test section which is a quite hard section as well. It is a way that helps the students aren’t serious or nervous during testing. Importantly, although this way is designed for Chinese students on speaking test and that is great consequence for them on high scores; it can be taken to apply for everyone on speaking test including Thai students. I believe that this way is a choice can ease tension for people who are taking TOEFL, especially the speaking test section. And it may be a way that can enable you success in your life wonderfully.

Thank you for sharing!!!

10 Dangerous & Deadly Foods You Never Know!!!

Recently, I have read an interesting text “10 Dangerous & Deadly Foods”, and these are 10 dangerous and deadly foods.

- Mushrooms
- Blowfish (Fugu)
- Shellfish
- Rhubarb
- Potatoes
- Apricot Stones (Seeds)
- Tomatoes
- Chocolate
- Tapioca
- Peanuts

I’m quite scared when I have found “potatoes and tomatoes” are in the list of 10 dangerous and deadly foods.

Today I will tell you about hidden danger of them. It’s said that potatoes contain glycoalkaloids (solanine and chaconine), toxic compounds which are more prevalent in the wild potato varieties. Cooking at high temperatures mostly removes the toxin, although headaches, diarrhea, and cramps—and in severe cases, coma and death—can occur in rare cases. Ever wonder why we’re told to keep potatoes away from light? It’s to prevent higher concentrations of solanine. So don’t eat potatoes after they have turned green.

Also, it’s said that although the fruit itself is safe (more technically a berry), tomato plants contain glycoalkaloids, which are indeed toxic.

Oh! This makes me surprise because potato is one of my favorite vegetables, especially potato made in the form of potato chips. I think it is a delicious snack and afford in everywhere, and I never have no idea that it is a dangerous food. So I’m quite heavyhearted and sad if I must stop to eat it when I have found it become to be a deadly food. Furthermore, I’m surprised extremely because I never think tomato is a dangerous vegetable for health. And I believe that both you and I only know tomato is a beneficial vegetable. That is to say, tomato is a vegetable contained with beta-carotene which is an important thing for synthesizing vitamin A—it is useful for good condition of immune system. For this reason, I usually force myself to eat a bit of tomato mixed in various foods; because I don’t like to eat tomatoes very much. I’ m quite scared when I have found tomato be in the list of 10 dangerous foods on the text, although I rarely eat it. And I’m glad at the same time because it is my good chance for eating tomatoes in smaller quantity—no forcing myself to eat tomatoes anymore. But it may be a bad new for people who love to eat tomatoes as well.

However, in my view, food is a double-edged sword—it refers both advantage and disadvantage. It will offer advantage or disadvantage for our health; it depends on choosing food for consumption of each one.

Don’t forget! Although there are few foods that cause instant death, you have a chance to encounter them.

And you??? What do you think about it?

Got juice?

Have you ever heard some ads word “got milk?”? Its goal is to draw our attention to drink a couple glass of milk a day for good health. Like juice, my post’s aim is to tell you about benefits of juice you have already known but some of you guys may overlook or forget juice’s benefits. Well, I have to confess that I used to drink a glass of juice in the morning when I was a student. But then, I had no time to juice veggies and fruits and finally I kept juicing machine in a cupboard. (Actually I should have said that I got lazy.) I therefore will get it started again. Before I tell you all about juice, I have some recommendations or rules from Natural Health Magazine so that you can’t make an excuse to stop juicing.

- Don’t say “you have no time.” Actually, it means that you don’t make the time for your health because drinking a glass of juice made of veggies and fruits in the morning helps reduce your risk of illness.

- Don’t say “it’s too expensive.” It’s very clear that you are what you eat so you should pay more for good produces.

- Don’t say “It’s hard to do it every.” Some suggest that you set a goal at first. For instance, you mean to juice once a week or at weekend.

Let’s talk about benefits of juice. Some may wonder why we have to drink a glass of juice everyday as your dishes are usually served with a cupful of vegetables. But did you know their essential nutrients--vitamin B, C, and A etc. -- are away when those veggies are cooked? Raw greens and fruits are indispensable for you; thus juicing is the best way to get enough vital nutrients so as to keep you away from diseases like cancer. Another benefit of juice is when you drink your veggies and fruits juice, it gives your digestive system a rest because your body doesn’t have to produce digestive enzymes to change the food to nutrients. Most raw produces—apple, pineapple, pear and carrot—contain high level of digestive enzymes. One more thing about juicing is that you should put 3 veggies with 1 fruit in juicer and then drink the juice right away.

Next, I give you a recipe of juice containing a lot of greens for detoxing liver, lungs, and kidneys and lime for building up immunity.

Ingredients: ¼ cup spinach

¼ cup parsley

2 ribs of celery

½ organic, unwaxed cucumber (If you don’t use organic one, peel them first.)

½ lime with or without skin

1 green apple

(Please note that above veggies are available in supermarkets such as Villa Market, Tops or Foodland.)
