Khun Adul's Comment on Huff & Kline
In the beginning , the authors made clear to me for the meaning of some technical or reference terms which I never know before . I think , it is necessary to know “ What is it ? ” before “ How to use it ? ” . I like their writing style , that is conclude their view before and then display the excerpts from the others books , which is easy to understand also . Such as they explained the meaning of three major functions of language in page 8 -9 or the expressive nonstop writing in page 11 . This way is better for some reader , like me , who is hard to understand the new thing . consequently , it will make me go ahead easier .
I found the conclusion from Britton and his coworkers , that is the expressive conversations with the self stimulate cognitive growth in all of the functions of language , interesting . But I question about the level of growth is significant or not .
In page 11 , I have learn about the logic of expressive writing or concept of free writing . Now , I understand that my “ free writing ” , not finished writing , is for myself only . And I always understand my “free writing” , so the writing rule is not necessary . Where as I understand more about the free writing , the new problem “ How can I improve it ? ” arises .Because my writing purpose is communicate with people , not only to myself . In addition , I think the nonstop writing is a kind of tool for keep nonstop thinking . If I can keep continuous thinking , whether by the other tools or not , nonstop writing is not necessarily . Free writing and nonstop writing are not synonym for me .
In summary , I understand “ free writing ” in term of meaning and in term of benefits better , after I read the Huff & Kline’ s works .Tuesday, June 17, 2008

A Vehicle for Cognitive Development
Nonstop writing is a problem with many students, becuase It is so difficult for many students to find subjects to write. They have not organized information in their brain.
Teacher Mum used to tell us in last class; a important factor to writing is organized.
Best Regards
Ben

A vehicle for Cognitive Development

OK. Just kidding. In fact, I have some ideas about nonstop writing. Many students have difficulty in discovering their focus is to ignore the larger question of why it is so difficult for students to find significant subjects to write-whether they are writing nonstop or spending half the the term on a research paper.I agree with this sentence in pp.12 because in my experienced, when I wanted to write somethings, I had thought manything. For example, how to beginning, what about grammmar and so on. Therefore, nonstop writing can be done and devaloped my writing as well.
Thanks

writing and cognitive
This is the second story after we know how to play the blog. And I think that everyone would love it as it is a channel for us to express general opinions and what we have learned from the text and shared it together.
This week, the text talks about how we can develop our cognitive ability through writing. It cited a research about the development of writing abilities in children from different ages as an example.
The study carried out by James Briton and four other British scholars found that writing practices can help promote cognitive development of the people in which I agreed with the finding.
Because no matter what we start writing, we must first understand our issues or we may miss some important information that we want to tell readers.
Apart from the study, we have been told to know about the writing styles which were defined as expressive, transactional and poetic. From the explanation and examples, they helped me able to understand about their differences and objectives.
For the expressive style, we always focused on their self while transactional one talked about general information and the last one is about poetic writing.
Dear all, we have also learned ways how to write non-stop of so-called free writing but anyway remember we had done it during the previous class. I know some of you who have never practiced this kind of writing style would feel a bit difficult to express their idea into English language.
But I think that isn’t the problem. If you write more, your idea will be flowing . Yet, I think for sure free writing is still an affective way to teach writing skills.
You did not worry about your grammar and other English rules or even the theme of the story. For me I like this kind of free writing. I don’t like a free writing with a given subject.
Thanks
Vote colour
Anyway, it doesn't matter for me what color it is. I just want to vote. :)
A Vehicle for Cognitive Development
Good morning!
I realize that nonstop writing isn’t difference from free writing, I agree with Tirayu. Nevertheless, I like free writing because it makes me feel free when I write anything, I don’t worry about grammar, punctuation, or spelling, etc.
Furthermore, I realize that free writing sometimes can help someone to reduce tension such as expression one’s feelings. This is a psychologically method that I used to learn.
I agree with the author that “free writing is a vehicle for cognitive development” because the students can practice basic writing skills by free writing. This facilitates their visualization as well.
Have a nice day!
Thanks,
Best Regards
Jib

A Vehicle is not A Vehicle
I understand about non-stop writing and I like this way of writing.
I also understand that it sounds like non-stop dancing music.
It's very funny and cheerful. I won't make a joke but I can really imagine.
Nid commented that it's different from free writing, but I'm not agree.
I don't care whatever free or non-stop. It doesn't make any difference.
I really want to say that "It is different by direction but same meaning."
Free writing means the way to make how to write with freedom.
Non-stop writing means just write, write and write it!
I can write both without correct grammar but if I want to focus it, I'll do it.
I also write without pausing. When I stuck in mood, I stop to think and write it
again after I got an idea. I still confirm that "the rule is not the rule."
My life don't want to follow any rule! because I have my freedom
and I'll never stop!
However, I'll follow my lovely teacher, Mrs.Karn for learn about writing only.
Do you agree with me? ha? my class, my friends?
