Green Glossary

One day I dined in a steak restaurant with providing free salad bar to serve guests. There are countless dishes of salad coloring with many greens and other veggies. And most side dishes of salad have the main ingredients—lettuces—I have wondered how to call them because the lettuces have many species. So, I give you guys more details about the lettuces. First, most lettuces are leaf vegetable family and most people love to eat the fresh lettuce which is good for health as it provides a lot of vital vitamins. Anyway, let’s get to know about the lettuces.

- CELTUCE (asparagus lettuce) is high in vitamin C and also its young stalk can be eaten. Mostly it is mixed into oriental salad dishes.

- WINTER DENSITY (romaine) is rounded, dark green lettuce. Also, it can grow through spring, summer, and fall. This green is the most favourite mix of salad with yummy dressings.

- FIRECRACKER (leaf lettuce) is blushed with dark scarlet color of leaves and it also is great for mixing into salad with dressings of oriental styles like sesame soy sauce, or western styles like Caesar salad dressing.

- RED CROSS (butterhead) is large red-tipped leaves and known as chewy lettuces.

- SULU (leaf lettuce) is a bright-green oak leaf, mostly used as a baby leaf for salad bowl.
These are part of lettuce family which is good for health. You should put much more lettuces and veggies into the salad bowl for your meal. The more green leafs you eat, the better health you are! ^___^
