Olivie Cafe

Today I'm gonna introduce you to my favorite restaurant, Olivie Cafe (โอลิวิเย่ คาเฟ่), The restaurant is located at Terminal 21, 5th floor. So you can access the restaurant by either BTS or MRT which is very convenient. There is another branch at Paradise Park but I have never visited there cause it's so far away from my house. Actually the very first branch of this restaurant was at CTW but it was set on fire and the restaurant was burned so it had to close and they has never reopened it, I don't know why. So when I heard that the restaurant opened the new branch at Terminal 21, I'm so glad.

Olivie Cafe serves mediterranean food including French food, Italian food and Spanish food. High quality ingredients are imported to cook and serve premium food. Most of all the dishes consist of olive oil so olive becomes its' symbolic with the blue color of Mediterranean Sea. Most of the dishes are "a la carte" with fast service to serve modern life-style both office workers and students.

                         The shop is decorated with mediterranean style and lively atmosphere.

                                      Here are my favorite dishes I would liket you to try.

                                                    Spicy Pawn & Rocket Salad Pasta

Carbonara Pasta

Pizza - Parma Ham & Mascarpone

Crepe Suzette with Ice Cream

The reflection in my life

The reflection in my life I would like to talk about the reflection in my life. The reflection of life is to evaluate the activities or something we did so that it can be better than previously. I always do something concerning about the reflection in my life. For example once I got the low score of the school record in my study, I will reconsider myself to think about what my mistake is. I try to find the solution to solve my problems as much as I can. Sometimes I ask for the recommendation from a teacher. Therefore, when I know what the problem is, it would be better to me so that I can amend myself to be better. In addition, I also have the reflection with my family. Sometimes I did something wrong and it brings my parents disappointed with my behaviors. This situation occurred when I was a child. At that time, I seldom went out to spend my time with my friends at their houses and I came back late. My father was very angry about this because of his anxiety. He would hit me when I arrived at home. I was very sad so I try not to make mistake repeatedly in order to avoid from my father’s punishment. I also have the reflection with my friends. There are several kinds of people in the society. Some people are good but some are not. Some of my friends are selfish. When I faced with this problem, I attempt to think about whom I should give the honest intention to or whom I should not. I have to stay away from bad friends because they will lead us to do something wrong as they did or we might do some mistake the same with them. I can look at other people to be the mirror for my reflection. Some people do something mistake, they will be punished. For example once I watched the news regarding about the crime from the television, I will memorize and think that is the bad behaviors which we are not allowed doing that. It can be the direction to live in daily life. Moreover, if we are a teacher, the reflection is needed in teaching. There is an evaluation in their teaching. The evaluation is part of the reflection. The teaching result will be reflected to the teachers whether their teaching is appropriate. They can also fulfill the students’ need or not. The elements of teaching is emphasized such as, lesson plan, teaching material, and teaching methods e.g. Therefore, the teachers can improve their teaching at last and their teaching will be achieved as well. We can notice that the reflection is very important in our daily life. It helps us to improve any performance. It occurs the comparison in our doing, feeling, and considering.

ASEAN Economic Community (AEC)

Dear all,

Now, I work as an international officer so I have many interesting information about international relation of thailand to tell you. The most important thing in this time is AEC or The ASEAN Economic Community. so today I will tell you about AEC or The ASEAN Economic Community that thailand will be approaching in 2015.

ASEAN Economic Community (AEC)
The ASEAN Economic Community Blueprint for realising the ASEAN Economic Community by 2015 was adopted and signed by the ASEAN Leaders in November 2007 in Singapore during their annual Summit Meeting.
The ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) is one of the three pillars to achieve a cohesive ASEAN Community. The other two are political / security and social cultural pillars.
AEC Blueprint is a single comprehensive document which identifies the characteristics and elements of the AEC with clear implementation targets and timelines for the various economic integration measures within ASEAN. The main objectives of AEC are to create a:
  1. single market and production base;
  2. highly competitive economic region;
  3. region of equitable economic development;and
  4. region fully integrated into the global economy.
HIGHLIGHTS OF AEC BLUEPRINT
  1. Single Market and Production Base
The five (5) core elements of ASEAN single market and production base are:
a.       free flow of goods;
b.      free flow of services;
c.       free flow of investment;
d.      freer flow of capital;and
e.       free flow of skilled labour.
On trade in goods, import duties on all products except for those listed under the Sensitive and Highly Sensitive List (unprocessed agriculture products) are to be eliminated by 2010 for ASEAN-6 and 2015 for Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Viet Nam.
As of September 2007, Malaysia 's tariff lines ( AHTN 2002 ) totalled 12,581. Of these:
·         10,135 tariff lines at 0%;
·         duty on 2,291 tariff lines (currently at 5%) will be eliminated by 1 January 2010;
·         duty on 66 sensitive and highly sensitive tariff lines (tobacco, tropical fruits and rice) will be reduced to 5% in 2010 , except rice at 20%; and
·         89 tariff lines on alcoholic beverages and weapons are excluded from tariff liberalisation under the CEPT Scheme.
For trade in services, liberalisation will be achieved through five (5) more rounds of negotiations, where all restrictions on trade in services on the 128 sub-sectors (based on WTO GATS W/120 classification) are to be removed progressively. The minimum number of new sub-sectors in addition to those offered under earlier packages to be scheduled for each round of services negotiations:
Year
No. of new sub-sectors
2008
10
2010
15
2012
20
2014
20
2015
7
In addition to liberalisation of equity participation, services liberalisation also involves substantial elimination of Market Access limitations and restrictions on National Treatment. The liberalisation of services sector is subject to flexibility. A flexibility of 15 per cent covers all services sector including those under the Priority Integration Sectors, except for financial services, air transport services, and services incidental to 5 sectors under ASEAN Investment Area.
The final quantum of flexibility is subject to review upon completion of the inventory of impediments/limitations to trade in services in August 2008. This inventory is required to guide the subsequent rounds of services liberalisation under AFAS.
MITI is also working with various Ministries/ agencies in compiling a database of barriers to trade in services.
The Framework Agreement on the ASEAN Investment Area is currently under review to make ASEAN more attractive for high-quality FDI . The new Agreement will:
·         incorporate additional provisions and obligations with improved features to be incorporated;
·         be more comprehensive , and facilitate ASEAN in negotiating FTAs with Dialogue Partners;
·         merge elements of AIA and ASEAN IGA and strengthen investor protection provisions;
·         benefit ASEAN investors and companies and foreign-owned ASEAN-based companies; and
·         provide better facilitation measures to be considered to promote intra-ASEAN investment.
The proposed elements of the comprehensive investment agreement would cover articles on the following pillars:
·         liberalisation;
·         promotion and awareness;
·         facilitation and cooperation; and
·         investment protection.
  1. Highly Competitive Economic Region
In creating a competitive region, ASEAN will also work to enhance cooperation in new areas for instance competition policy, consumer protection, intellectual property rights, infrastructure development, taxation and e-commerce.
Region of Equitable Economic Development
The AEC also outlines the strategic work plan for equitable economic development region through:
a.       enhancing and strengthening SME competitiveness; and
b.      narrowing development gap within ASEAN.
The strengthening of ASEAN SMEs will be based on the ASEAN Policy Blueprint for SME Development (APBSD) 2004-2014. The Blueprint outlines the framework for SME development in the ASEAN region. It comprises strategic work programmes, policy measures and indicative outputs.
To narrow the development gap, the Initiative for ASEAN Integration will serve as the platform for identifying and implementing technical assistance and capacity building programmes for both public and private sectors in ASEAN Member Countries, in particular, CLMV and the other sub-regions such as the IMT-GT and the BIMP-EAGA within ASEAN. This is to allow them to be equal partners in the development of regional production and distribution networks.
Region Fully Integrated Into Global Economy
The objective of AEC is also to make ASEAN a more dynamic region to compete in the global supply chain and to remain an attractive base for foreign direct investment . In this respect, ASEAN will work towards maintaining “ ASEAN Centrality ” in its external economic relations, especially in its negotiations for free trade areas (FTAs) and comprehensive economic partnership (CEPs) agreements.

It's quite too long to read but it have benefit for us to know and prepare ourselves to be a part of AEC.

Kanom Ko

Good afternoon friends,
Today, I am thinking of “Kanom Ko”(ขนมโค) , a type of dessert originated in the south of Thailand.
When I was young, every 5 o’clock in the evening, I always asked my mum to give me 5 bath to buy Kanom Ko. Once that money was put in my hands, I walked quickly to the lady who sold Kanom Ko at the public playground.
I am going to tell you how the lady made Kanom Ko at that time.
I saw many things she had provided. Let’s imagine.
-          On the table, there were a big round plate in which she put many balls of kneaded sticky rice flour, a plate of shred coconut, a plate of cooked-peeled mung bean , and a plate of many cubes of brown sugar.
-          Near the table, she had a stove and she put an aluminum pot on it. Then, she poured lots of water in that pot. Later, she lit some charcoal to boil the water.
Then, I asked her “Can I have 5 bath of my favourite, please?  She smiled and I saw how she made it:
-          She flattened a ball of kneaded sticky rice flour in her hands and she put a cube of brown sugar in there and wrapped it round.
-          She repeated the same step until 15 balls were finished.
-          She put these balls into the boiling water.
-          Then, these balls were floating and she used a sieve to drain them.
-          Next, she put them on a small plate, and sprinkled some coconut shred and cooked-peeled mung bean.
-          Last, she shook the plate to let the balls stick well with the above dressing.
I think Kanom Ko is not sold in Bangkok. Just I feel nostalgic about it.
Some people said the taste of Kanom Ko is similar to Kanom Tom, but the size of Kanom Tom is bigger than Kanom Ko
Have a good weekend

Hi! Guys.  I would like to recommend the new restaurant and the popular one for the people who don’t know where you want to go on this weekend. May be this one is the other choice for you that called “ CHOCOLATE VILLE” ... Don't forget to take the camera with you!!!!
Chocolate Ville is a new restaurant towards the Northeast of Bangkok. The restaurant is actually a small village with a range of different style houses, small lakes, a light tower, windmill and many more.
The menu showed a wide variety of dishes, both international and Thai. We tried a mix of both with spare ribs, german pork knuckle, Thai salads, sausages and soups. I liked all of it and would definitely recommend this to others.

Thanks for information from http://vancoevorden.net/wp/2012/01/03/chocolate-ville/

In this beautiful setting the restaurant serves a range of international and Thai dishes. I visited Chocolate Ville about 2 weeks after opening. By that time many people already had found this restaurant and we actually had to wait in line to get a table. I was rather suppressed about this as the location of the restaurant is not that obvious and for some maybe difficult to find (although it is really easy to get there). This is because it is located on a rather new section of the Kaset-Nawamin Road. This section is not much used and as such not many will have passed the restaurant. in between the beautiful houses, lakes, light tower, etc many tables are set to allow the visitors to enjoy the park landscape.

Straw Mushroom Chili Paste

Everybody must have their own favarite food. For me, my own favorite food is straw mushroom chili paste. I usually eat it every Saturday. It is hard to find this kind of food because it is considerred vegetarian food. So you probably find it in vegetarian shop.

For me, I usually buy it from the food cart in front of Big C Ratchadapisek. In front of Big C, there are many food carts and street shops on the pathway. The food cart that sell my favorite kind of food is easy to find. It is right at the corner of the pathway where you can see the couple selling many kinds of chili paste such as mackerel chili paste, horseshoe crab chili paste, straw mushroom chili paste, etc. And there are a lot of boiled vegetable for you to choose from.

Of course, the taste is very spicy, so I have to tell them don't make it too spicy. Anyway, it still  too spicy for me but they said that it must be spicy or it isn't delicious. What they said is true, if it is not spicy, how can you call it chili paste. So I eat it with  boiled vegetable and it is the perfect match. Usually I eat it with morning glory, Ivy  Gourd, Hemp Sesbania Flower, cowslip, etc.

Below is the picture of Straw Mushroom Chili Paste

Today I would like to share the brife history of facebook which is the popular social network in this present Mark Zuckerberg, 23, founded Facebook while studying psychology at Harvard University. A keen computer programmer, Mr Zuckerberg had already developed a number of social-networking websites for fellow students, including Coursematch, which allowed users to view people taking their degree, and Facemash, where you could rate people's attractiveness. In February 2004 Mr Zuckerberg launched "The facebook", as it was originally known; the name taken from the sheets of paper distributed to freshmen, profiling students and staff. Within 24 hours, 1,200 Harvard students had signed up, and after one month, over half of the undergraduate population had a profile. The network was promptly extended to other Boston universities, the Ivy League and eventually all US universities. It became Facebook.com in August 2005 after the address was purchased for $200,000. US high schools could sign up from September 2005, then it began to spread worldwide, reaching UK universities the following month. As of September 2006, the network was extended beyond educational institutions to anyone with a registered email address. The site remains free to join, and makes a profit through advertising revenue. Yahoo and Google are among companies which have expressed interest in a buy-out, with rumoured figures of around $2bn (£975m) being discussed. Mr Zuckerberg has so far refused to sell. The site's features have continued to develop during 2007. Users can now give gifts to friends, post free classified advertisements and even develop their own applications.and the number of registered users had reached 30 million, making it the largest social-networking site with an education focus. Microsleeping

Hi friends,
How are you doing? I hope you are fine.
I would like to talk about  a classic symptom called microsleeping.
Microsleeping is an action when you fall asleep for 10 seconds or a bit more, but it should not be longer than 30 seconds. (If it lasts like that, it is not called a microsleep. It means you are sleeping).
I am sure you all have had some microsleeps, like nodding head and drooping eyelids. It is known in Thai as “Lab Nai”.  Microsleeping is caused by some reasons: You didn’t sleep well as you are stressful. You are insomniac, or whatever aspects.
Microsleeping is dangerous for you. Once you are driving, you can’t concentrate on driving performance. Then, you might be led to a car accident. Or, when you walk along the canal, you might fall in there, and a crocodile in that canal is expecting you!
To avoid microsleeps, you must have a good sleep.
And to sleep well, you are required to eat nutrients food, do exercises, not drink alcohol and not drink too much coffee. Some people said breathing in and out in the form of yoga will help you sleep well, too.
Hope you will not be microsleeping after reading my writing.
Have a lovely weekend.
Thanks to some information from a TV programme on Thai PBS channel.( Kon Su Roke , or Keep  Diseases away)

How can I do that? If you have any recommend or product please tell me......

Big thanks.
hi! Guys Do you Know why the thai people must do KON POM FAI for their children and what thay belife about that? i know that some people didnt know it so today i would like to share some knowledge for you and hope it will be useful for you. The Kwan Duan (Kon Pom Fai) Ceremony Kwan, in Thai people's belief, is the spirit existing in their heads and protects them from harm and illness. When a baby is one month old, it is considered to be safe as a "mankind's child". Then the Kwan Duan ceremony is held in order to auspiciously bless the child. If the auspicious occasion is determined to be in the morning, it is customary to invite the monks to perform evening chanting in the day before the auspicious day. This occasion is also a ceremony for laying down the baby into the cradle. This ceremony is organized in various extents, basing upon the financial status of the child's parents or relatives. The ceremony comprises of the evening chanting on the day before the auspicious day calculated by the astrologer based upon the child's horoscope (birth time). In the next morning, there is a merit making by offering food to monks then followed by a Brahman ceremony that starts by striking a gong of history exactly at the auspicious time. The chairman of the ceremony touches a holy water on to the child's head then uses a razor to touch the hair as if he is shaving the child's hair. The monks perform a Jayanto Pray to bless the child. A Brahman priest hits a Ban Dor (small drum used in Brahmin rites), then the Pin Pat (gamelan orchestra) and Mahoree (Thai orchestra) plays their songs to bless the child. When the child's head is cleanly shaved, a Brahma priest performs a bathing rite, using the holy water prepared on the day that the monks perform the evening chanting. The water is normally warm and contained in a big bowl or a bathtub. The child is ritually dipped into the water, and then placed on the mattress in front of the Bai Sri (cooked rice topped with the boiled egg, used as offering). A person who holds a baby is normally the child's grandmother. If not available, a highly respected person can be invited instead. After that, the Brahma performs ritual ceremony by charming and burning Sai Sin (sacred white cord) to keep out evil spirits. The child's hands and feet are then bound and anointed with Kra Jae Powder. Then the Brahman priest ritually feeds the child with coconut water. After that, candles are lit up in 3 glasses to bless the child for three times. The glasses are then passed on to guests and relatives one by one to the left whereas turning their right side to the child because it is believed that the right side is a symbol of auspiciousness. During this time, the Pin Pat (gamelan orchestra) and Mahoree (Thai orchestra) play their songs until the candles revolutionary celebration is completed. The candles are then handed over to the Brahma who will pitch them in the milled rice bowl one by one. When the candles are all pitched in the milled rice bowl, they are squeezed into one candle. The lit-candle is then put out using the betel leaves packed together under the belief that it helps to blow the smoke from God of Fire away from the child at a considerable distance. When the candle ritual activity is finished, the Brahman priest prepares a mattress for the baby and place the child's belongings at the cradle's edges and under the pillow. Then the cat that is cleaned and dressed, wearing a collar to imply that it is a domestic animal, is put into the cradle in order to show that the cat is given to the child. The cat is then removed from the cradle and let go. After the child's belongings are completely arranged, the Brahman priest then carries the baby to place into the cradle. Then the ceremony is finished when the Brahman priest singsongs the baby in Brahmin dialogue. (The implied meaning of placing the cat into the cradle is that they wish the child to be easily raised up as the cat) Note - The Kwan Wan or Kwan Duan ceremony for those who are financially shortage can be a brief ceremony by only binding the Sai Sin at the child's wrisks then shaving off the hair. This is proper for their financial status. Ritual instruments Preparation Prepare tables for Buddha images as appropriate to the place's size and number of monks. Prepare the child's horoscope records, a holy water bowl with a candle, a spool of Sai sin (a sacred white chord) placed in a tray, vases, flower trays, a joss stick basin, and at least a pair of candle bases. A candle is paired with a flower (non-limit amount). Arrange the group of tables mentioned above and place a mat and a cushion for each monk. Also, each mink must be served with refreshments (water, areca palm, betel, cigarette) and a spittoon. In the next morning, each monk must be served with well-prepared food and deserts. Other things may be presented to the monks as the host's wishes. What is a Sugar Glider?

Hi every body,This is the first article for me. I think that Ajarn Karnchanok and my friend knowing my lovely pet named "Kaitom". But for other people who don't know him. I'm telling you now.

"Kaitom" is a Sugar Glider, a small arboreal marsupial that is found in the forests of Australia, as well as in Tasmania, New Guinea, and the neighboring islands of Indonesia. This little creature is a member of the same order that includes kangaroos, opossums, wombats and Tasmanian devils. In the wilds of their native habitat, the sugar gliders are tree dwelling creatures, often living in groups of 15 to 30. They are active by night when they hunt for insects and small vertebrates and feed on the sweet sap of certain species of eucalyptus, acacia and gum trees. Sugar gliders are so named for their preference for sweet foods and their ability to glide through the air like a flying squirrel. They travel through the midnight tree tops by launching themselves into the air and transforming into a living kite by spreading out their sails of skin.

Sugar gliders are capable of a wide repertoire of calls that vary from bird-like chirps to dog-like barking. By far their most extraordinary vocalization is the one they make when disturbed in their nest. This is what we call crabbing. It defies description but sounds somewhat like those rattles they hand out at new year parties. Calling to one another is just one means by which they communicate.

The sugar glider makes a fascinating and unique pet which becomes extremely friendly when provided daily interaction with humans. In order to become the friendliest possible pets, glider babies should be handled daily as soon as they have emerged from the pouch and their eyes are open. Their most endearing quality is the ease with which they bond to their human friends, especially when obtained at a young age (best if purchased shortly after weaning). Male sugar gliders generally reach maturity around nine to ten months; females shortly thereafter. Please note that sexual maturity can start as early as 4 months, making them capable of reproducing. If properly cared for, they will soon crave your attention. Being nocturnal, they are content to "snuggle" during the day in their cage or in your hand or pocket. During the evening, they become more active and will glide into your hand. Hand-tamed, well adjusted gliders are easy to handle and will not run away, even during their active periods. Both male and female sugar gliders make excellent pets, with a life span of ten to twelve years, sometimes longer. In the wild, however, 4 to 6 years is the usual life expectancy.

Morever, they have many of the characteristics of the perfect pet in that they are clean, personable, attractive and relatively quiet. Their housing and dietary requirements are easy to cater to. They are hardy and don't have a lot of health problems.

If you are finding some pet, sugar glider is the best choice that you will pick them to your home.
