Bangkok Planetarium

Yesterday I went to the Bangkok Planetarium with my boyfriend. This was my first time here. and the second time for him. My boyfriend had been here first time when he was only 6 years old. When I was young, I often heard others talking about a planetarium where people can see many kinds of stars and galaxies. There is not only a planetarium there but science exhibitions about 7 parts held in building 4. At 11 o'clock, we got ticket to see planetarium show at 1.30 pm, so we went to visit exhibitions at building 4 first. There are mocks of living things to show biodiversity of life in our world with knowledge explanations and games. During exhibition visit, I saw many children coming with their family. They looked so happy. After that we were back to visit the small aquarium and then solar cells room. Then it was time for planetarium show. When the light in the room was turn off and tremendous stars appearing above my head, I felt very happy to see a beautiful sky there. It impressed me! While I was seeing the stars, a staff of Bangkok Planetarium explained about our space. Lastly, there is a short movie screened to give more knowledge about telescope (something that people use to see the stars in a long distance). The entrance fee is only 30 Baht for adult and 20 baht for child. If you have spare time, you can come with your family there to see how the history and science are.

Nails

If nails cause a rash, they warn about signal of health. If nails have a white dot in nails, it effects to the body. Because the body lack of iron, calcium and vitamin A especially vitamin A is very important. If the body does not get vitamin A for long time, it effects for vision at night time and almost blind one. So, we should add more vitamins by eating some milk, pig's spleen and green & yellow vegetables but don’t forget to eat food completely. Moreover, an ancient said that nails cause a rash causing be fortunate or lose money. It depends on the position of white dot. For examples, happen with thumb to middle finger meaning lose money but happen with ring nails meaning be fortunate or have someone love.

CULTURE SHOCK!!!

Culture shock is the difficulty people have adjusting to a new culture that differs markedly from their own.  The shock of moving to a foreign country often consists of distinct phases, though not everyone passes through these phases and not everyone is in the new culture long enough to pass through all five. There are no fixed symptoms ascribed to culture shock as each person is affected differently.

Closing of shop

Most shop in many coutries in Europe or Australia alway closed at 5.00 p.m. or 6.00 p.m. But in Thailand in evening untill midnight or next time, there are many many shop open especially the food shop. If you live in oversea countries, you cannot buy everything that's food or anything. I think thai students who live there they may be hurgry in the night for this reason they should buy the food for stocking.

  Taking a bath

In winter season, the European take a bath 2 time a week. When they go out, they will use perfume more than taking a bath. In opposite way although Thais is staying in the winter season, they must take a bath. Eventhough they are cold or hot, they must take a bath before doing several activities.

Night Market

Last two weeks I recommended the restaurants for dining out. Today I would like to recommend a night market I like to go shopping. I don’t know the exact name of this night market. I heard that it was called “Sanam luang market.” Last year this night market was located around Sanam Luang. After renovating Sanam Luang, it was moved to Klong Lord area. So, its name may be changed to “Klong Lord market.” You can go there about 7 pm until 3 am. There are many kinds of goods and services such as second handed books, shoes, old Thai traditional containers and tools, massage, small restaurants, and mobile phones. I like to buy books here because they’re quite cheap. Also, there are old books written in old Thai language about 20 to 30 years passed. Besides, a steak restaurant called “Krua Tua Nam” is my favorite that the food is cheap and delicious. All ingredients have good quality. I always go to eat here when I want to eat steak, lasagna, and salad. I can say that I already forgot the Pizza Company or Santafe. Perhaps this market is one place you can go shopping and eat out at night.

Enjoy!

I’ve read the interview of Boy Pakorn Chatborirak in Daily News. He loves to see movie so much. In the past, he saw movie for entertainment, but now the movie can be case study for improvement of his acting. While watching the film, he also investigated the camera angle, acting and all detail of production.

It happens to me too. After studying translation, I always analyze the wording and sentences in the books or fictions in Thai and English while reading them. While seeing movie, I investigate title and subtitle why translator use this Thai words. Moreover, while listening English song, I will find the lyric to translate in Thai. Even Thai song, I study the lyric why the writer use this word.

It’s funny that I think I am mad, but now I have a good point of view from Boy Pakorn's interview. He loves films and also works as actor. So he can enjoy watching film so much and also gain good advices or ideas from film.

I love reading books and also study translation in master degree. Even though I may not be translator, I can enjoy reading books and also get lot of new powerful words from books, songs and movies.

Enjoy!

It takes a LEGEND--To make a STAR

Sometimes, I didn’t know what to do and felt so bored in everything surrounding me. I have to go to bookstore or theater. Last Saturday, my feeling was down deeply and then I ran to see “Burlesque”, musical movie starring Cher and Christina Aguilera. Firstly, when I saw its trailer in internet, I guessed that the plot is not extraordinary. It is about a girl run to her dream and made it come true because she never gave up even if she faced many problems. While buying ticket, I asked myself why I paid so much for it. Ok, I wanted to buy time not ticket. Time is cheap.

While Cher was singing one song in scene, I was very impressed by Cher’ powerful voice and the meaning of song.

Feeling broken
Barely holding on
But there’s just something so strong
Somewhere inside me
And I am down but I’ll get up again
Don’t count me out just yet

I've been brought down to my knees
And I've been pushed way past the point of breaking
But I can take it
I'll be back
Back on my feet
This is far from over
You haven't seen the last of me
You haven't seen the last of me

They can say that
I won't stay around
But I'm gonna stand my ground
You're not gonna stop me
You don't know me
You don't know who I am
Don't count me out so fast.

Before seeing this movie, I didn’t have any idea of this song. I haven’t known that “You haven’t seen the last of me” was written by Diane Eve Warren and won the 68th Golden Globe Award for Best Original.

Burlesque takes a legend...to make a star.

Diane Warren and Cher show audiences all how they are great.

Be Careful!

“Working hard continuously thorough a week may affect your brain”
The scientists in Scandinavia region had analyzed the behavior of some middle-age British government officers who work more than 55 hours in a week without any days off and the result was found that it can cause a regression of brain function and sluggish analytical thinking. People who often work hard will encounter short memory problem and difficulty of word recognition, besides; they always get lower scores in rational evaluation test than others.
From this article, you can check by yourself that you work as same as above those words. It is very important thing and does not ignore. Because of the brain is the most important of body. Some occupations have to work this such as technician, engineer. If the brain works harder, it will effect for your control more slowly and forgetful, too. Then you should have a relaxing time for good health and have a long-age. You can set in schedule for exercising within a week and treat continuously. For example, you should play some sports; walking or running about 20 minutes. Finally, I hope that you still understand more the reason.

Somtam!

Do you like to eat E-sarn food? Last week I recommended Shabu buffet restaurant that I always go to dine out. Today I would like to recommend a E-sarn food restaurant. One more my favorite food is “Somtam” or known as Papaya Salad in terms of English language. Since I have stayed here for one and a half year, I went to eat Somtam in many places. Yesterday I found that this restaurant “Laab Udon Phochanakarn” is the best E-sarn food restaurant. In the evening of that day, I and my boyfriend ordered six dishes which were Somtam, Laab Ped, roasted chicken, spicy pork soup, spicy Moo Yor salad, and Tub Moo Wan. They’re too many dishes for two persons, but we can eat all of them. Empty dishes left! That’s because we didn’t have lunch. Both of us were very full. A funny thing that happened is we only ate and said nothing. We said when we had ordered and when we had finished all of them. Perhaps, we both were very hungry. The restaurant is on Bangkok-Nonthaburi where near Soi Bangkok-Nonthaburi 39. I hope you may go to try eating E-sarn food here. You’ll say “Yummy! Yummy!

Beam Kawee

Beam Kawee is my favorite singer. I like him since I was 15 years old, so I want to write about him.

Kawee Tanjararak, mainly known as Beam, was born on May 18, 1980 in Bangkok, Thailand. He is a singer from the popular Thai boy band "D2B" which included two other members, Worrawech Danuwong (Dan) and Panrawat Kittikorncharoen (Big).

Kawee Tanjararak or "Beam" is a member of the boy band D2B, which was very popular in Thailand. D2B is one of Thailand's most famous boy band groups. However, on July 22, 2003, a member of D2B, Big, got into a car accident and being in a coma state. During Big's years in a while being sick, Dan and Beam continued their music careers and released several duo albums together. The duo became known as Dan Beam. One of his most famous songs included "Wela Mai Keuy Por" (Not Enough Time, เวลาไม่เคยพอ).

I have ever met him in 2002 at Siam. He gave me his signature. I’m sad that D2B band has no big

The Ancient Buddhist Scriptures (Tripitaka Scriptures)

Last Saturday, I attended the exhibition of the ancient Buddhist Scriptures, likely known as Buddhism’s Dead Sea Scrolls, be temporarily enshrined at Buddhamonthon in Nakhon Pathom. So I have learned that thousands of the ancient Buddhist Scriptures were smuggled from Afghanistan before two giant Buddha statues were destroyed by the Taleban.

Mr. Sam Fogg, London Specialist, sold them to Mr. Martin Schoyen, Director and Owner of The Schoyen Collection, Norway. There were 5,000 complete scriptures and 8,000 pieces of broken scriptures inscribed on palm leaves, bark, leather and brass plates.
Archaeologists believed that these Buddhist scriptures have been written in the sixth century. The world’s oldest ancient Buddhist scriptures were found in Bamiyan cave and kept in 400-600 bowls. These scriptures were written with “Prommi” characters, which were used during Buddha’s time.

Besides, there are many Tripitaka scriptures of many countries exhibited such as Japan, Lao, Korea, Tibet. The story of two giant Buddha statues was told in multimedia presentation so I understand Buddha’s teaching that all things are impermanent.

Sometime the couple have many problem in their life together. I think because they don't know more about them.(man don't know more woman, woman don't know more woman) This problem made them difficult to live and do many activities together. So knowing each other can made the relationship of them will be better.

There are the different of them  such as....

Relationships:
First of all, a man does not call a relationship a relationship - he refers to it as "that time when me and Suzie was doing it on a semi-regular basis". When a relationship ends, a woman will cry and pour her heart out to her girlfriends, and she will write a poem titled "All Men Are Idiots". Then she will get on with her life.
A man has a little more trouble letting go. Six months after the break-up, at 3:00 a.m. on a Saturday night, he will call and say, "I just wanted to let you know you ruined my life, and I'll never forgive you, and I hate you, and you're a total floozy. But I want you to know there's always a chance for us". This is known as the "I Hate You/I Love You" drunken phone call, that 99% of all men have made at least once. There are community colleges that offer courses to help men get over this need; alas, these classes rarely prove effective.
Sex:
Women prefer 30 - 45 minutes of foreplay. Men prefer 30 - 45 seconds of foreplay. Men consider driving back to her place as part of the foreplay.
Comedy:
Let's say a small group of men and women are in a room, watching television, and an episode of "The Three Stooges" comes on. Immediately, the men will get very excited; they will laugh uproariously, and even try to imitate the actions of Curly, man's favorite stooge. The women will roll their eys and groan and wait it out.
Bathrooms:
A man has at most six items in his bathroom - a toothbrush, toothpaste, shaving cream, razor, a bar of Dial soap, and a towel from the Holiday Inn. The average number of items in a typical woman's bathroom is 437. A man would not be able to identify most of these items.
Magazines:
Men's magazines often feature pictures of naked ladies. Women's magazine also feature pictures of naked ladies. This is because the female body is a beautiful work of art, while the male body is hairy and lumpy and should not be seen by the light of day.
Going out:
When a man says he is ready to go out, it means he is ready to go out. When a woman says she is ready to go out, it means she will be ready to go out, as soon as she finds her other earring, finishes putting on her makeup...
Mirrors:
Men are vain; they will check themselves out in the mirror. Women are ridiculous; they will check out their reflections in any shiny surface--mirrors, spoons, store windows, toasters, Joe Garagiola's head.
Movies:
For women, their favorite movie scene is when Clark Gable kisses Vivien Leigh for the first time in "Gone With The Wind". For men, it's when Jimmy Cagney shoves a grapefruit in Mae Clark's face in "Public Enemy".
The Telephone:
Men see the telephone as a communications tool. They use the telephone to send short messages to other people. A woman can visit her girlfriend for two weeks, and upon returning home, she will call the same friend and they will talk for three hours.
Dressing up:
A woman will dress up to go shopping, water the plants, empty the garbage answer the phone, read a book, get the mail. A man will dress up for: weddings, funerals.
Politics:
Men love to talk politics, but often they forget to do political things such as voting. Women are very happy that another generation of Kennedys is growing up and getting into politics, because they will be able to campaign for them and cry on election night.
Weddings:
When reminiscing about weddings, women talk about "the ceremony". Men talk about "the bachelor party".

More anything else.......

Gratitude is the Top Virtue

All Thai should behave to parents or an important person because gratitude is the most important. Then people always keep this thing in mind. After I read the article of W. Vajiramedhi, I feel that it is real but now Thai society won’t think it. So, I would like you to read this article. Finally, you will know more clearly.

If you are grateful to your country, there is no way you will cheat.

If you are grateful to yourself, there is no way you will be enslaved by drugs.
If you are grateful to time, there is no way you will waste your time doing nothing.
If you are grateful to food, there is no way you will eat without awareness.
If you are grateful to knowledge, there is no way you will turn knowledge to vice.
If you are grateful to love, there is no way you will cheat on your lover.
If you are grateful to respect, there is no way you will become two-faced.
If you are grateful to honesty, there is no way you will carry out misconduct.
If you are grateful to your family, there is no way you will break up one.
