Dear Ajarn Karn
First of all, I searched the word “qualitative research” on the internet and I found many meaning, one of them which I like belongs to Leechai Sringoenyoung Ph.D. He said that qualitative research is termed the constructivist approach or naturalistic, the interpretative approach, or the postpositivist or postmodern perspective. It began as a counter movement to the positivist tradition in the late 19th century.
In my opinion, qualitative research means relating to the nature or standard of something, rather than to its quantitative research and qualitative research involves with interview to professional in related field.
In addition, qualitative research can be compared and analyzed data in deep. Nevertheless, I still like quantitative research because I think it easier than qualitative research.
Thanks

The Peer Review Process
I understand the peer review that is the writing about suggestion, question or opinion after the reading of another' work (friend or general person).
The peer review process help to improve the writing. I think the peer review help the writer more than the reader because the comment of the reader make the writer get idea and rewrite the work. I'm not sure. The comment of Aj.Karn is the peer review, isn't it? But the comment help my writing .

The Peer Review Process
Mittan talk about the peer review process that can develop writing.
Peer review process is like revise process but do by friends in class. This process help to develop writing because the peer read and ask quations about the paper. These questions are advices for the writer to improve his/her work.
Thank you,
Kani

The Peer Review Process
Dear all,
This article refers to the process that can help the students to improve their writing. There are four steps of the peer review process(P.208).
I agree with this sentences "I think the most important problem for us during the in-class writing is the lack of time."(P.210) Because I think the time is the important thing that indicate the abilities of the student because of lacking of time. The student can not create the details of the essay completely. For example, the class of Ajan Karnchanok, after she have already taught me and my friends, she would order the topic for writing in that week. And then, the student would create their writing in that class and they have not already finished in that class. Everybody must to do the essay after they finished the class.
After, I read the example in this article such as Hadi. I think I look like Hadi because I always read the essay each line very slowly and I lack any sense of cohension. Thus, I try to improve my skill of writing as well.

The Peer Review Process.
Mittan 1989 said that " empowerment applies to everything."(p.207) I disagree with this sentence. Empowerment applies to teaching, but it is not the peer review process. The peer review process is a teacher's method helping to develop student's writing. It is useful method.
The main idea of the peer review process is a group. The writer recieves reactions, question and feedback form a partner who is being a reader. The partner give a strong motivation and reinforcing for the writer.
Furthermore, chosing the peer group size is importance. Mittan said that " Pairings of low-low and low-high generally are not effective."(p.214) I agree with this sentence, becuase the abilities of pairs are the factors causing the peer review process are not effective. Writers are not developted, if parring is low-low ability. While parring of low-high ability is not effctive, becuase there is a gap of ability.
Finally, the peer review is good; It can help to develop writing process. Furthermore, partners is the important factor. If the partners' feedbacks have the biases, the peer review process is not effective.
Best Regards
Ben

Breaking News
I saw Ajan Sripen today. She told me that she will be busy this Thrusday, so her class will be on Firday afternoon instead. If I don't forget, this week, Ajan Karnchanok's class will be on Thurday morning, won't it? I told Ajan Sripen that anyway.

The peer review process
Dear all,
The author suggested about the peer review process. He requires helping the students to improve their writing. He explains about the four steps of the peer review process (p.208), including reaction and responses of the students.
I realize these suggestion advantages for both the students and the reviewers because the peer review process permits abilities in their writing. Furthermore, he informs his experience about his students such as Hadi.
I like this article, it good for me too.
Thanks
Regards,
Jib

The Peer Review
In my understanding, Peer Review Process is useful method for student to show their abilities in writing. First of all, students should know that the peers as good as their teacher will read and comment before being of the Peer Review Process and it is seperated in four steps:
- Read peers' writing and write a response
- exchange oral comments
- write comments
- repeat and complete a first draft.
That is! It's all over, I have no longer idea.
- Read peers' writing and write a response

peer review can improve writing.
Peer review can improve writing.
Dear all,
Having read the Peer Review Process written by Robert Mittan, I found that the peer review is a technique to help students improve their writing. Students can get comments, reactions, and questions from their classmates in what they think about their writing so that their revision would be made afterwards.
Apart from this, I have learnt ways to guide students in responding to each other’s writing. I think the four-step ways are very useful for each student to communicate with their friends and encourage them to extend abilities in their writing. Mitten, the writer of the text, has also taught us to know other ways for using the peer review process such as integrating the peer review process into the course, beginning with a few sample tasks, and allowing plenty of time for both written responses and oral discussion of reviews.
As for my experience, friends I would like to tell all of you that since I studied English writing course, my past English teachers have never guided and taught me how to use the peer review process to improve my writing. The teachers only relied on themselves, their experiences and their knowledge background to evaluate my works. Sometimes I disagreed with their suggestions but dared not argue as it could possibly affect the evaluation of my works. However, I still feel good to see that we have a chance to know it.
Take care

The Peer Review Process
Hello All,
I agree with doing a peer review in case we can use our skill of writing, reading, listening, speaking and thinking (Mittan, 1989, p. 218). At the same time we can improve these skills of ours, and we will consider to readers more -- how to make them can read and understand our writing.
To be as a writer, I can know what my friends, not only Ajan Karnchanok, think of my writing by their responses. Somebody's responses may be different from others'. So this variety of response can be more useful than just one response.
To be as a reviewer, I can see others' writing -- what they think and the way they write. It will be useful for me too. But I am not sure how to give others responses or comments because I am not an expert of writing. And I am not sure if my responses will be correct and useful for them. And what if my responses are wrong? On the other hand, how I can know that the responses I get from others are correct and believable.
In this article, Mittan seems to suggest reviewers that their responses should be positive (p. 213). I can understand that negative responses may destroy writiers' confidence or whatever. That's not good. But how the review works if we only have positive responses. How I can let the writers know if they have some mistake and how I can know if I have some mistake too. (I may misunderstand the meaning of positive response.)
I think peer review is not an easy work, but it is good, and I should try.
See you guys in class
Have good holiday

About qualitative translation research
Dear all,
For qualitative research, I think it resemble case study. Steps of qualitative research are also like quantitative research for example; specification aims, hypothesis, analysis and summarization of the result.
However, I think that the difference between qualitative research and quantitative research is as for qualitative research emphasize substance but quantitative research emphasize data.
Furthermore, the other differences are select samples, the methods of collect data, etc.
Thanks
Best regards,
Jib

qualitative research
Dear all,
I did not attend the Monday class because I have had a sore throat and a high fever. After feeling better today, I called Nong Nid, asking her to explain what Acharn Karnchanok had lectured in the class. Nong Nid told me that Acharn Karnchanok had lectured about the meaning of qualitative research and instucted us to post the meaning of it to the blog.
Before going into details of the qualitative research, I would like to tell all of you that research can be divided into two categories. The first is qualitative and the latter is quantitative. The two are totally different because of their methods and techniques. Qualititative research uses mainly interviews and some key questions as a mean to collect data from a few samples while quantitative research uses mainly the variety of questionnaires as a mean to get data from samples selected . The data obtained will be evaluated by principles of statistics.
Thanks/ Anucha

What is qualitative translation research?
A qualitative translation research is subjective research. The researchers want to know about real situation of a topic, so the participation of researchers in the situation is the main point of this research.
Furthermore, the process of analysis use the researchers' idea through experience. The statistical analysis is not used in the qualitative research. The result is expressed in form on description discovered by the researcher . The qualitative researches are usually met in the social, art or public administration field.

What I think qualitative translation research is
Well, I have never maken any researches in my life, also I had never learn about it until now, in the class today. So what I am saying about qualitative translation research is from my little brain.
I think research is a work that a researcher do to get information -- what the most people do or think of something. A qualitative translation research must be a reseach about translation and the results shouldn't be appeared in numberal; it should be appeared in words. (^.^)
I'm sorry I don't know how to explain. And this is all I know and can explain about qualitative translation research at this time.
:)

A qualitative translation research
Formerly, I think a qualitative TR is a research which have or haven't statistics and numeric. The research can use questionaire, interview and other. The research emphasize the result more process. I think It called a qualitative TR because the result of research use about education.
I confuse between a qualitative TR and a quantitative TR. After I listen Ajan Karn, I understand a qualitative TR.
